Answers are published as the CEO wrote them, spelling included.

  1. About the CEO

Can you tell us a bit about yourself? For example; how old you are, what your background with flying in general is and what brought you to creating your own Virtual Airline.

I am 24 years old. I started the flight sim hobby when i was 15. I was always interested in aviation and airplanes but i am not in the aviation industry. I bought this VA off the previous ownership in 2019 as he didnt have the time to run things and the va was trending downwards and i couldnt sit by and watch it happen

  2. How it started

When did you start your Virtual Airline?

Delta Virtual was founded in 2014 by Jay Roberts

  3. Success

Do you consider your Virtual Airline successful?

Yes. We have a steady growing pilot base and a great community of some really good people.

  4. Best moment

What is your most interesting experience with your Virtual Airline, what has happened that makes you think so?

All the friends ive made along the way. Alot of us get along quite well. Some of the late night in flight conversations get pretty interesting.

  5. Hard times

Did you have any bad experiences with your Virtual Airline?

Over the years we have had many staff come and go. Two of those staff members let the power go to their head and almost brought the whole va down with it. Ive learned to stop things like that from happening before they get started and to not tolerate it.

  6. Pilots coming and going

What do you think of your Virtual Airline’s flow of new and leaving VA pilots? Is there something you do to attract more pilots? And why do you think some pilots leave your Virtual Airline?

We try to do new events and tours and special promotions to encourage pilots to join our VA. Alot of them stay though some leave. Our relaxed nature isnt for everyone though and thats completely understandable.

  7. Fleet and liveries

What types of planes does your Virtual Airline use and do you have all the custom liveries available for your VA?

We have an unrestricted system for aircraft. You can fly whatever you want right of the bat. Since we are based off a real airline liveries are available.

  8. Online networks

Does your VA fly on a network? If so, what do you think about it? Do you feel it supplements the general flying experience, what do you think of the network in general and is it required for your pilots to fly on this network?

We fly mainly on VATSIM and IVAO. It is not required to fly on any network.

  9. Flight tracking

Do you use any flight tracking software? If so, which one, and are you happy about the service it provides? Would you like to improve it for example?

We offer both phpVMS ACARS and smartCARS v3. I would like to see smartCARS 3 perform better with phpvms V7 but that would be TFDIs responsibility.

  10. Developer offers

Do you make use of the offers some developers / distributors have for Virtual Airlines? Do you think these developers / distributors have good offers? And does it fit your Virtual Airline policy?

We are working on getting those for our pilots! We currently are partnered with TFDI for discounts on their products.

  11. Website

Does your Virtual Airline have a custom made internet web page or do you use, for example, PHPVMS and equivalents? Are you happy about your VA’s web page?

We use phpvms v7 with support for vmsACARS and TFDIs smartCARS 3 ACARS.

  12. The year ahead

And lastly, what are your expectations for your Virtual Airline in the coming twelve months?

We hope to boost our membership and improve on our user experience by providing a good platform and constantly improving things.
